GRAND FORKS, N.D. – A trio of North Dakota hockey players were named to the 2026 Team Canada World Junior Summer Showcase roster on Friday afternoon, as announced by Hockey Canada.

Sophomore forward Cole Reschny, sophomore defenseman Keaton Verhoeff and incoming freshman defenseman Carson Carels are part of the 32-player roster that will take part in practices, scrimmages and a trio of exhibition games against Finland, Sweden and the United States from July 26-Aug. 1 at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario.

The team will practice July 27 and 28 before taking on Sweden on July 29, Finland on July 30 and the United States on Aug. 1.

The three were all part of the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championships for Canada and helped the nation capture the bronze medal – the country's first medal since 2023. They were joined by fellow incoming rookie blueliner Ethan MacKenzie on last year's squad to give UND its most representatives on a Canadian World Junior roster in program history.

Last month, incoming freshman forward Cooper Simpson and future forward Carter Sanderson were named to the USA roster to give UND five total representatives.
